WHAT IS IGAM?

We are a team of researchers who have tackled the issue of treating Gingivitis, a very common form of gum inflammation that causes irritation, redness, swelling and bleeding of the gums. Because it doesn’t cause pain, people may not be aware that they have the condition and that they need to see their dentist. If left untreated, Gingivitis can progress into a destructive form of gum disease, and eventually lead to teeth loss.
The uniqueness and innovation of iGAM’s solution is that it changes the paradigm of gum inflammation treatment: You don’t need to go to the dentist and spend time and money! Instead, using M-health, a person suffering from Gingivitis can be cured anywhere around the globe. We offer a quick, friendly mobile application that can automatically detect the exact stage of Gingivitis, offer a personalized oral treatment plan and monitor gum-health progress, recommending a dentist visit if necessary.

IT ALL SOUNDS GREAT, BUT WHAT DOES THIS APP ACTUALLY DO?
It's very simple! As a patient, you will be provided with a mouth opener device which you will be notified to use once you have downloaded the app. Then, you will follow the instructions on how to take a photo of your gums, which will then be automatically uploaded and analyzed by the app itself (and that's right—this is all without a visit to the dentist!).
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO USE THE APP?
The answer to this question varies on a case by case basis. Once you have taken the first photo of your gums, the app will tell you whether or not you have Gingivitis, including the exact stage of the disease. Depending on the severity of your condition, you may be asked to upload a photo once a week, once every few weeks, once every few months, etc. It is expected that your gum health will improve over the course of time given that you use the provided treatment plan.
WHO DEVELOPED THIS MOBILE APP?
iGAM was developed by a small and efficient research group led by Dr. Assaf Spanier and Dr. Guy Tobias. Guy is a senior dentist and researcher at Hadassah and holds a B.Sc Med and MPH DMD Ph.D (c) from Hebrew U. Guy is familiar with the global oral market. He was medical director at COLGATE and is the chairman of the Israeli Dental Public Health Association. Assaf is a lecturer and researcher at Azrieli Academic College of Engineering. Assaf holds a PhD in Computer Science from Hebrew U. Assaf has 10 years of experience in the field of Bioengineering, specializing in Medical Image Analytics, with practical experience in Deep Learning and medical applications.
